The brief

The challenge was to design a visual identity for a purchase concept and create a 3D point-of-purchase site.

Trek is a brand created to connect and unify the 27 different Bay Area transit agencies. Trek aims to simplify the system, providing easy travel for Bay Area public transit commuters. With COVID-19 in mind, Trek offers contactless payment through the Trek app in addition to its traditional physical transport cards.

 Market research

 

Branding

 

Trek’s slanted logo conveys movement and speed. The modified T in the logo is extended to represent distance and travel. The K is customized to create an arrow.

The structure of the kiosk plays off of the angular features from the logo to form a uniform brand.


App UI

Through the Trek app, commuters can refill their Trek card balance, request a new card, find directions through the map function, and view the history of their previous scans and refills. Additionally, commuters can use the QR code on the app to scan their fare payment instead of using the card itself.
